Monk's sight saved after glue error

The Scotsman, Feb 23, 2005

Bangkok, Thailand -- Doctors in Thailand have partially restored the sight of an 81-year-old Buddhist monk who accidentally stuck his eyes shut when he mistook a tube of glue for eye drops.

After using a solvent to dissolve the glue in his right eye, doctors said he could see clearly out of it. A spokesman at Angthong Hospital, 60 miles north of Bangkok, added that they believed his other eye was also undamaged.

Phra Khru Prapatworakhun, the abbot of a temple in Angthong, was to have his left eye operated on today.
