The VBS delegation was led by Most Venerable Duong Nhon, Vice President of the VBS Executive Council.
The delegation held talks with a delegation of the LFBO, led by Most Venerable Boukham Buphavong, LFBO Vice President. The delegation also called on Dr. Most Venerable Vichit Singhalat, President of the LFBO, and Khamphoi Chanthasuk, permanent Vice President of the Lao Front for National Construction.
The Vietnamese Buddhist clerics visited two pagodas of the Vietnamese community in Vientiane, the famous cultural project of That Luong and Sisaket pagoda where more than 16,400 statues are preserved.
Most Venerable Nhon said that the visit helped futher tighten the time-honoured friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples, especially Buddhist followers, of Viet Nam and Laos.
A member of the delegation, Prof. Le Manh That, Vice Director of the Viet Nam Buddhism Institute, said that the MoU reflected the traditional friendship, special unity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in general, and created a legal basis for the VBS and LFBO to promote unity, cooperation and mutual assistance for peace, stability and the common interests of the two peoples and the two Buddhist sectors in particular.
