Most Venerable Thich Thien Hao’s death anniversary marked

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam -- A ceremony dedicated to late Most Venerable Thich Thien Hao, former Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)'s Executive Council and former Chairman of HCM City Buddhist Sangha's Executive Committee, was held in Ho Chi Minh City on July 2, marking his 10th death anniversary.
Most Venerable Thich Thien Hao, who was also former master of the Quang Duc Zen Monastery and Xa Loi Pagoda, was an eminent monk who devoted his whole life to Buddhist Sangha and the national development.
At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Hien Phap, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the VBS Central Committee, recalled Most Venerable Thich Thien Hao's great contribution to the VBS and the country, especially his important contribution to national liberation and reunification and building of the current Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha.
Most Venerable Thich Thien Hao was a member of the Central Committee of the National Front for Liberation of South Vietnam and President of the Condemnation Committee against Crimes of the US and its puppet regime in South Vietnam.
He was also a deputy to the 6th and 7th National Assembly. He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order and Independence Order of the State and many other high distinctions.
Previously, the VBS and the HCM City Buddhist Sangha jointly organised a seminar on the life and career of late Most Venerable Thich Thien Hao.
