The donations have been channeled to aid the poor, underprivileged children, helpless old people, war invalids and family of fallen soldiers, AO victims and flood victims.
Ha Noi-based pagodas have provided 151 poor children with 50,000 VND a child per month. Especially, the Bo De pagoda (Long Bien precinct) is caring for more than 40 orphans and helpless old persons, the Tu Khoat pagoda (Thanh Tri district) sponsors AO victim children in three near-by communes, and the Nhu Khanh pagoda (Tu Liem district) opens a consulting room to give free traditional medicinal treatment to local people.
The Ha Noi Buddhist Church built 25 houses and provided 12 wheelchairs and other aids for underprivileged people and established four HIV/AIDS consultancy centres in pagodas.
The Ha Noi Buddhist Sangha plans to hold its 6th congress by the end of September.
