VNA, Jan 2, 2008

Lang Son, Vietnam -- The Chua Thanh pagoda in northern border Lang Son province has been recognised as a Buddhist pagoda possessing the biggest volume of bronze statues in Viet Nam.

Chua Thanh or Dien Khanh Tu, located in Lang Son city, has 53 bronze statues of Bodhisattvas and holy monks.

Built in the 15th century, the pagoda is an artistically architectural work and owns valuable antiques. It was recognised as a national historical relic site in 1993.

To mark the event of receiving Viet Nam record’s recognition, on December 31, the pagoda held a ceremony to cast a 2.1 tonne bronze bell with financial support from Buddhist monks and followers nationwide.
