HA NOI, Vietnam -- President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Pham The Duyet highlighted the important role of Buddhism in Vietnamese society in a letter he sent to the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) on Thursday to mark Buddha’s 2551st birthday.
In the letter, the leader of the largest mass organisation wished the VBS to conduct more activities throughout the year to tighten the concord between Buddhist believers, promote their strong attachment with the nation and to intensify solidarity, friendship and co-operation between Buddhist organisations of Viet Nam and other countries.
President Pham The Duyet also underscored the VBS’s preparation for the fourth National Buddhist Congress, saying he expected that through the congress, the VBS would heighten its position and prestige.
In honour of Buddha’s birthday, photographer Nguyen Van Phuoc from Da Lat city, Central Highlands Lam Dong province, also known as MPK, opened his solo exhibition titled April Dew in Ha Noi on Thursday.
The exhibition, featuring 99 photos by the artist, will run until May 31.
