Buddhist followers donate over VND 400 billion (US$ 25 mil) to charity

Hanoi, Vietnam -- Buddhist monks, nuns and followers nationwide have poured over VND 400 billion (US$ 25 mil) in humanitarian activities over the past five years, according to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

The donation was channelled to aid the poor and people in remote and
disadvantaged areas through the building of close to 2,500 houses, 250
bridges and more than 1,500 water wells, and the provision of wheel chairs and financial aids.

They have also provided aid, worth US $63,800 in total, to disadvantaged people in other countries such as Indonesia, India, Myanmar, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
