Catch a drama concert with a twist

The Star, September 9, 2011

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- THE Buddhist Tzu Chi Merits Society Malaysia will organise a musical sign language drama concert entitled “Purity, Great Love, Innumerable Meanings” at Stadium Badminton Cheras in Kuala Lumpur this weekend.

According to the society’s spokesman Liew Su Tim, the context of this grand event is a contemporary adaptation of a Buddhist sutra “The Sutra of Innumerable Meanings” with a total of 350 performers on stage.

The two-hour drama will be held at 7.30pm tomorrow and at 10.30am and 2.30pm on Sunday.

The concert brings to our modern age the Buddha’s teachings which are more than 2,000 years old, as demonstrated by the Tzu Chi volunteers who have the Buddha in their hearts and the dharma in their actions as they mingle among people to learn and practice the virtues of the Buddha.

Irrespective of their roles as actors on stage, or as backstage workers, all of them are truly sincere as they disregard their social status and remain humble to reveal the intrinsic nature of their selflessness and untainted purity of great love.

Tzu Chi’s musical sign language performance concert is a breakthrough from ancient tradition as well as a creative inspiration to spread the Buddha’s Teachings.
