Petaling Jaya, Malaysia –– Kadam Tashi Choe Ling Malaysia (KTCL), a prominent Buddhist center in Petaling Jaya, served as the host venue for the Vajrayana Buddhist Council Malaysia’s (VBCM) celebration of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday on Sunday, 20 July, 2025. The event drew a vibrant gathering of approximately 30 sangha members and 170 guests, including a representative from the Dalai Lama’s Office in Singapore.

The celebration featured prayers from three distinct Buddhist traditions held in KTCL’s gompa, uniting the Malaysian Buddhist community in a heartfelt prayer for the long life and continued guidance of His Holiness.

Rinpoche also delivered a special video message, urging attendees to aspire for the long life of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, emphasizing the Dalai Lama’s role as a global beacon of compassion and wisdom.

The event concluded with gratitude extended to KTCL’s volunteers and Dharma friends for their contributions to the joyous occasion. Biography of Kyabje Dagpo Rinpoche

Born in 1932 in Kongpo, southeastern Tibet, Dagpo Rinpoche was recognized at age two by the 13th Dalai Lama as the reincarnation of Dagpo Lama Rinpoche Jamphel Lhundrup, the root guru of Pabongkha Rinpoche.

At six, he began his studies at Bamchoe Monastery, later joining Dagpo Shedrup Ling Monastery at 13 to study the Five Great Texts of Buddhist Philosophy. He deepened his understanding at Drepung’s Gomang Dratsang under masters like Geshe Ngawang Nyima. Rinpoche studied under 37 masters, including His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the Dalai Lama’s tutors, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche.

After fleeing Tibet in 1959, he continued teaching globally, founding the Ganden Ling Institute in France in 1978, the first Gelug congregation recognized by the French government. Known for his simplicity and compassion, Rinpoche remains a revered figure, guiding KTCL and other centers in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Europe.
