Mark Adams was planning to cycle to Penang to visit his wife Grace’s relations for Chinese New Year when he decided to “kill two birds with one stone”.
A few days before he left, Grace, a Buddhist, thought his journey would be a good opportunity to raise money for the on-going restoration and upgrading of the Jalan Perak temple.
The 49-year-old a home maker passed the hat around among friends and relatives and within three days collected the RM2,100. Grace and 10-year-old son Daniel flew to Penang first.
Adams, started his journey to Penang on his custom-made touring bike at 7am Thursday. He made an overnight stop in Lumut, Perak and on to Pantai Remis, Taiping, Selama and Butterworth.
After losing his way in Butterworth, he took the ferry and arrived at the Paradise Sandy Beach Resort at 8pm on Friday. This was the second time in three years he has cycled the 435km from Kuala Lumpur to Penang.
