Society to have "Dharma thru’ Drama" Competition

Six schools confirmed for Night of the Asoka Awards 2009
Kajang, Selangor (Malaysia) -- The Kajang Buddhist Centre (Buddhist Missionary Society Malaysia (BMSM), Kajang Branch)will be organising the inaugural “NIGHT OF THE ASOKA AWARDS 2009”, an Inter-Dhamma School Competition. The aim of the competition is to promote "Dharma Thru Drama".
The competition will be held on Saturday, 29th August, 2009, 6.00pm, at Dewan Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Yu Hua, Jalan Low Ti Kok, Kajang, Selangor.
The objectives of this Inter-Dhamma School Dharma thru’ Drama Competition are to promote the use of drama in dhamma propagation, to foster and nurture talents in drama and performing arts amongst Buddhist community; and to forge closer relationship and co-operation among the Sunday Dhamma Schools.
Six Dhamma Schools – four representatives from the Klang Valley and two from Penang - will be presenting their performances.The organiser plans to make the awards an annual event in their Dhamma School calendar.
The six performing schools are:
1. Shah Alam Sunday Dhamma School, Shah Alam Buddhist Society
2. Nalanda Vidyalaya, Nalanda Buddhist Society
3. My Happy Dhamma Club (Penang)
4. Mahindarama Sunday Pali School (Penang)
5. Kinrara Metta Sunday Dhamma School, Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society
6. Kajang Sunday Dhamma School, Kajang Buddhist Centre
Admission for the concert is free. Members of the public are welcomed to give their support in this first ever inter-dhamma school competition.
