Singapore's President celebrates Vesak Day with Buddhist Welfare Services

Singapore -- President S R Nathan celebrated Vesak Day at a party organised by the Singapore Buddhist Welfare Services.

The event was off to an entertaining start at Orchid Country Club.

Joining in the fun were over 70 people, whose birthdays are in the month of May.

President Nathan took to the stage and showcased his skills in Chinese calligraphy.

He penned the character "xin" which means 'heart'.

Later, Mrs Goh Chok Tong also surprised the crowd by joining some children with a song.
