Commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of the Buddha, His Holiness reflected on the timeless light brought into the world more than 2,500 years ago.

"Though the world has transformed beyond recognition since then, his teachings remain relevant today," the Dalai Lama stated. "His profound insight into dependent arising, and his call to harm no one and to help all beings, remain the most compassionate and practical guide for living in our troubled times."


The Call to Become '21st-Century Buddhists'

A central theme of His Holiness’s message was a call to move beyond passive faith and embrace a dynamic, intellectually engaged practice. He urged followers to step into the role of "21st-century Buddhists"—a concept he frequently champions to bridge ancient tradition with contemporary reality.

According to His Holiness, truly embodying the Dharma in the modern era requires a rigorous, active three-step process:

- Listen & Read: Actively engaging with the texts and teachings to discover their true, foundational meaning.
- Reflect Deeply: Analyzing and contemplating what has been learned, rather than accepting it blindly.
- Internalize & Practice: Making oneself thoroughly familiar with the teachings and integrating them into daily life.
