Buddhist Master Venerable Tulku Lama Rinchen Phuntsog Rinpoche to speak at Wilkes University
Wilkes News, Nov 30, 2007
Wilkes-Barre, PA (USA) -- Buddhist Master Venerable Tulku Lama Rinchen Phuntsog Rinpoche to speak at Wilkes University on Saturday, December 8th beginning at 2 pm.
Titled “
Dharma Talk: Eight Verses on Training the Mind,” Lama Rinchen’s presentation at Wilkes University will be starting at 2:00 in room 101 of the Stark Learning Center.
“Eight Verses on Training the Mind” is a classic text of the mind training (lojong) genre, providing concise instruction on how to engage with the world in a more compassionate and idealistic way, whereby the ideal becomes the real.
This fundamental mental transformation is based in traditional Tibetan Buddhist metaphysics and epistemology and presents rational, practical steps by which to change one’s way of interacting with the world and oneself.
The talk is open to the public and centers around one of the Dalai Lama's favorite texts. In October, the Dalai Lama gave a talk on the same subject at Ithaca College. The talk is suitable for all, regardless of religious background or beliefs.
Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling 408-4439 or emailing cclc@wilkes.edu. There is no admission fee, but a free will donation is suggested.
