Introducing teens and adults to meditation in Edwards

Venerable Tenzin Priyardarshi will give a free talk in Edwards Friday and lead a two-day retreat this weekend
EDWARDS, Colorado (USA) -- The Venerable Tenzin Priyardarshi is in the valley for events today through Sunday.
Priyardarshi will be in Edwards to give a free public talk, called “Teenage Mind, Turbulent Mind: How Meditation Can Change Your Life” today at 7 p.m. at the Miller Ranch Community Center. This talk is a basic introduction to meditation and is intended for teens and young adults of any or no religious affiliation. Contact Pati for more information at 970-688-1337.
On Dec. 6 and 7, Priyardarshi will offer a retreat about the Buddhist founding principles of the “Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path.” Each day begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m. All are welcome to attend and no prior experience is necessary to benefit from these beginning teachings. Priyadarshi decided at the age of 10 to run away to a Buddhist monastery over a 1,000 miles from his home in Delhi, India. In his early teens, he followed Mother Theresa around the streets of Calcutta serving the poor. He trained in India and Nepal in Indo-Tibetan and Japanese Buddhism and was ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He came to this country at the age of 17 where he earned undergraduate degrees in philosophy and physics. He completed his graduate studies in comparative religion at Harvard University. He is the Director of the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT and is president of The Prajnopaya Foundation, a worldwide humanitarian organization.
