On Friday, Bodhimarga joins with the Vail Symposium to present a public forum for a talk by Venerable Tenzin on “Ethics, Religion and Society,” that examines the role of ethics and religion in the wake of recent socio-political and economic crises. This will be held in the Chaparral Room in the Cordillera Valley Club, in Edwards, with refreshments and a meet and greet from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and a lecture from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Cost is $20 for supporters and $25 for the general public. Please RSVP by calling the Symposium at 970-476-0954.
In a weekend retreat, on Saturday and Sunday at the Miller Ranch Community Center in Edwards, Venerable Tenzin will provide an introduction to the basic ideas of the Yogacara School, commonly referred to as the “mind only” school. This is an outgrowth of Buddhism that began in India and was founded on the existential truth of the human condition:
There is nothing that humans experience that is not mediated by the mind. Yogacara refers to eight layers of consciousness to understand the delusions of the mind and the phenomena of cyclic existence. The retreat fee is $150 for both days from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and includes lunch and snacks. For more information and to pre-register for the retreat, visit the Bodhimarga website at www.bodhimarga.org or call Gaylord at 970-390-9299.
