Professor to speak on "Nichiren - Buddhist Reformer of Japan in 13th Century"

San Francisco, USA -- The Nichiren Buddhist International Center (NBIC) will host a cultural lecture on Japanese Buddhism, "Nichiren - A Buddhist Reformer of Japan in 13th Century" on Thursday, April 6 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the NBIC facility, 29490 Mission Blvd. Hayward CA 94544.

The guest speaker is Prof. Takashi Nokao, Ph. D of Rissho University, Tokyo, Japan. Prof. Nakao recently supervised a DVD based program, "Nichiren - A Practitioner of the Lotus Sutra," covering Nichiren's life based on historical materials and newly discovered facts.

He will speak about Nichiren's life along the historical background of Japan in the 13th century via a public showing of the DVD. An English interpreter will be provided.

About Prof. Takashi Nakao

Prof. Takashi Nako was born in 1931, He teaches at the Rissho University, Tokyo, Japan. Prof Takashi is currently the President of the "Academic Society of Ancient Documents of Japan". He is also a Council member of the Cultural Asset of Chiba Prefecture as well as Chief Researcher of Myojoji Temple of Hakui, Ishikawa Prefecture. He was a former member of Council of Cultural Asset of the Agency for Cultural Affairs and served on many other committees.
