The donors are friends of agency founder, Susanna F. Cheung.

"The statue represents the efforts of everyone at ORI Anuenue Hale toward bettering and improving the lives of those in need," Cheung said Friday

The statue stands eight feet tall and weighs more than 3 tons. It is carved from a solid piece of white jadestone dating back to the Han Dynasty. The statue will be placed in a garden space on the 40-acre ORI Anuenue Hale complex.

ORI Anuenue Hale and its sister facility, Opportunities for the Retarded, Inc. (ORI), has been providing not-for-profit services since 1980. The organization t offers support services for the elderly and their families, opportunities for those with limited means and a place where adults with mental retardation and developmental disabilities can become contributing members of society.
