Inexpensive enlightenment with renowned Buddhist Lama Tharchin 4/24 – 4/26

Seattle, WA (USA) -- When HH the Dalai Lama came to Seattle this time last year tens of thousands of people attempted to get within shouting distance, and only a handful of people were able to be near him.
<< Lama Tarchin
You had to have a ticket just to get into an event, and those were difficult to come by. When HH the 17th Karmapa came to Seattle last May, the Paramount was sold out for all four teachings, I paid $250 for my seat and people traveled from around the world to see and hear him.
Now, we have another opportunity to be with and learn from a great Buddhist teacher. Granted he is not popular figure like HH the Dali Lama, but he is a wise man, and attending his teachings is inexpensive. In fact, if you read the fine print at the bottom of the announcement it says, "Tuition is negotiable based on need .. no one will be turned away."
What that means is that if you feel that you can't afford the $25 for Friday night's teaching or $125 for the entire weekend, all you need to do is talk to somebody, make arrangements that work for you and attend this event. It's not that these people don't have to pay expenses and earn a living. It's that they understand the importance of sharing their wisdom at this critical juncture in humankind's evolution.
There is also the concept of reciprocity / karma / what goes around, comes around. So, we each contribute what we can to one another. In our society, the common means of exchange is something we call "money." It's not, however, the only means of exchange, and we each have much to give to one another. This weekend's teachings are an excellent example of what is possible in both giving and receiving.
So, if you're called to participate, I invite you to come. I'll be there. Here are a few of the details.
Lama Tharchin, a Dzogchen (Great Perfection) Buddhist master, is the tenth lineage holder of the Repkong Ngakpas, a family lineage of householders that was the largest community of non-monastic practitioners in Tibet. Lama Tharchin was trained in His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche's monastery, engaged in five years of solitary retreat and then completed a three year retreat under Dudjom Rinpoche.
On Friday, April 24 at 7:30 Lama Tharchin will be presenting a talk entitled Inner Peace, Luminous Mind. The following is a description:
The true nature of our minds is utter peace and luminosity. Lama Tarchin will introduce us to that abiding nature so that once having recognized it we can continue to rest in that state. With practice, you will be able to integrate this peaceful luminosity into your daily activities and world. These methods bring calm to the inner and outer turmoil of these times and lead to the long-term happiness of awakening to your true nature.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 25-25, Lama Tharchin will be teaching on Heart Jewel for the Fortunate Ones: Pointing Out Instructions for the Great Perfection by Dudjom Rinpoche. Lama Tharchin will use his skill and wisdom to transmit this precious teaching in a simple but powerful manner that will directly touch the heart of everyone who attends.
Both events will be held at Nalanda West, 3902 Woodland Park Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98103 (206) 529-8258.
