Buddhist Recovery Network Conference to be held in Los Angeles

Oregon, USA -- In January 2008 a group of delegates from the USA, Canada, Australia and Bhutan assembled at Cannon Beach, Oregon (USA) to discuss the formation of a Buddhist Recovery organisation.

(GAD)Keynote speakers at the Conference include Trudy Goodman, Kevin Griffin, Noah Levine, Professor G. Alan Marlatt, Thich Dao Quang, and Santikaro. Workshop and Panel presenters include Jeff Bell, Dr Ann Bolger, Ann Buck, Laura Burges, Pablo Das, Damon Gay, Rev. Alex Holt, Dr Kathy Lustyk, Rev. Elizabeth Munoz, Mary Stancavage, and Diana Winston.
Tickets purchased before the 1st of July receive a $100 'Early Bird' discount. As only 100 tickets will be sold, the organizers expets the event to be a sell out.

The Buddhist Recovery Network supports the use of Buddhist teachings, traditions and practices to help people recover from the suffering caused by addictive behaviors. Open to people of all backgrounds, and respectful of all recovery paths, the organization promotes mindfulness and meditation, and is grounded in Buddhist principles of non-harming, compassion and interdependence. It seeks to serve an international audience through teaching, training, treatment, research, publication, advocacy and community-building initiatives. 

The venue is the Against The Stream Meditation Center, 4300 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles. The Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society was founded by Noah Levine to make the teachings of the Buddha available to all who are interested. Its mission is to create and sustain communities of healthy, accountable, wise and compassionate people from every walk of life.
