Being in the presence of the bead-like remains of the Buddhist masters from China, India, Tibet, Burma, Indonesia, Thailand and Taiwan has been described as spiritually charged and incredibly healing, says organizer Dekyi Lee Oldershaw, a former Tibetan Buddhist nun.

The remains are thought to be infused with the compassion, clarity of thought and spiritual realizations honed through years of the masters' intensive meditative practice.

Some believe that blessings with the relics ease suffering, instil peace, purify karma and even promote a better rebirth in future lives. The display at the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club is open today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A special pet blessing happens from 1 to 3 p.m. tomorrow, followed by a blessing of the waters of Hamilton Harbour at 3:30.
