Solidarity for Action by Indonesian Buddhists in support of Burma
Jakarta, Indonesia – 28 September 2008
Solidarity for Action by Indonesian Buddhists in support of Burma will gather in front of the Burmese Embassy in Jakarta on 28 September 2007 at 13.00. The gathering will the proceed to walk to Hotel Indonesia, Overseas Department Republic of Indonesia and the ASEAN Secretariat.
This action comes is taken by the Buddhists in Indonesia, who are ruing the harsh actions taken by the military junta of Burma against defenseless monks.
We strongly condemm the harsh measures taken by the Burmese military on the monks, which have grossly impinged on their human rights, as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nation.
As monks are religious symbols of the Buddha world, we implore the military actions against the monks to stop immediately.
We urge the United Nation to take immediate and impose coherent sanctions on the military government of Burma.
